Michael, Thanks for getting this conversation going.

I agree that Metro (and its Board) should look to industry standards. It's baffling to me that the excuse that we are so unique is accepted. Every transit system, to some extent, is unique. But there are still best, or at least promising, practices out there for measuring on-time performance.

I will never get the two minutes early being considered on time. Most transit operators out there (at least in other cities) will tell you that "running hot" is the worst thing you can do. Many bus riders would agree with them.

I agree with the concern about balancing on-time performance and safe driving. Bill's comments about this are right on point.
