"I'm not sure what you're railing against here." --Alex

Alex-

That is a fact--and I'm not "railing" about anything.

My comment to David had nothing to do with the Whitehurst. I was simply disagreeing with his claim (that is, opinion) -- in response to one of my earlier posts -- that a ground-level K Street boulevard will be no more of a "psychological" barrier than any other other major 4-6 lane arteries located in DC that he cited -- and I quote, "Wisconsin Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, 16th Street. M Street is more than four lanes—it's six."

My experience, from walking all over DC, has resulted in my opinion that ALL roadways -- heavily-trafficked ones in particular -- are pedestrian barriers and cut up neighborhoods.

It is also my opinion that tearing down the Whitehurst and replacing it with a K Street Boulevard is a dumb idea and after three years of discussion, research and analysis of the idea, no one has convinced me otherwise. Even Evans has admitted--unhappily--that the Mayor has declared it a dead project.
