I was surprised to find in the Alexandria area of Fairfax county on Sunday that temporary barriers preventing left turns and cross traffic on Rt 1 and Fort Hunt Rd had been set up at some intersections where the lights were out. This seemed like a pretty good way to reduce accidents due to the missing signals, though it did seem to cause a bit of problems for some drivers.

Most of the power in the area seemed to be back up by late Sunday afternoon.
