I mostly agree. But taxis serve a role as part of our transit infrastructure, so as a consequence, there is a strong compelling reason to ensure even pricing across tax services. When a person steps on to a curb and hails a taxi, he wants to know what he's going to get.

Regulated taxis and app-based dispatch services are going to have to exist side-by-side. We can't expect the city to only rely on one model or service.
