DC is littered with these nice but outdated organizations. So many of them seem to have fabulous buildings and prime locations, but very little in the way of purpose or mission.

The congressional club is actually a bit more current than some of the others that come to mind, like the Order of the Eastern Star, the Masons, and the order of the Cincinnati. I often wonder what purpose these organizations have other than raising enough money to pay their bills and maintain those very expensive buildings.
