@David However, members of the Committee of 100 and the Federation of Citizens Associations testified that this process was an out of control freight train and had to be restrained. They said they weren't happy with the process, but I argued at the time that the real complaint seemed to be one of outcomes.

You make an assertion but you don't back it up with any facts. If a process is incorrect, you're going to end up with incorrect outcomes. That's almost a 100% given. So, yes, people would be unlikely to be happy with incorrect outcomes that came out of an incorrect process. But where do you make the connection that it's simply the outcomes that drove the 'train wreck' analogy? I don't get the logic behind your assertion.

An analogy would be that cyclists don't like cars driving indiscriminantly in bike lanes. It follows from that that they also don't like it when they get blocked by cars driving in the bike lanes, or worse yet, get hit by cars driving in the bike lanes. Yes, you'd be correct in saying that cyclists don't like the results of cars driving in the bike lanes. But to assert that cyclists don't care about the rules that mandate that cars must not drive in bike lanes other than for certain reasons (which you detailed on here last week), but only care about the resulting accidents and crowding out of cyclists ... is lacking reason ...
