Michele Rhee is history if Gray wins, but who is he likely to bring into DC govt? One way I've resolved the question of how to vote or how to live with an unsatisfying choice by asking who they'll appoint. Those are the people who will run things on a day to day basis. I figured Cropp would bring in nothing but hacks and Fenty might not. In practice, he has a mixed bag. In some cases the policy has changed less than the management style (e.g., Rhee). Who are Gray's pals? Who are his allies in the various community groups (business, religious, etc.)? I've not seen a good analysis of these things. Process is fine and input is always desirable, but ultimately you need someone who will make unpopular decisions and someone who will appoint people who are wise and persuasive. At this point, I don't feel as though anyone has gotten beyond the surface of what Gray would bring to the table as mayor.
