I don't want to get ahead of David's upcoming post but Tom Quinn and Jonathan McHugh are both running in ANC 3E on platforms supportive of smart growth and sustainable transportation for Tenley and Friendship Heights. This area has traditionally been dominated by people opposed to any type of reasonable mixed-use development near the metro stations along this corridor. The upcoming election is an opportunity to get two new ANC commissioners who would be strongly committed to transit-oriented development surrounding the Tenley metro station. Additionally, Tom Quinn is a firm supporter of a Wisconsin Avenue streetcar route, which will improve mobility for residents along this corridor and help alleviate capacity issues on the Red and Orange/Blue lines.
