Interesting ... But I wonder how many continued to use it once the novelty wore off. And, since the escalator was still running ... and would need to for those unable or unwilling to climb ... What real energy savings were made? This seems more to be 'all for show' than for substance. Remind you of anything? Can we say 'Tommy's bag tax' or 'Mary's soda tax'?
