Cons: While this might change by tomorrow, you can't access WMATA data on the Nextbus website. I prefer the "Simple Website" interface on the Nextbus website. Also, the Nextbus website enables you to select multiple routes to see their progress in Google maps (not that that is a particularly useful function though).
I'm no techie, so I don't know what is possible, but do anyone know what sort of inventive applications people might make off of this data?

@Reid -- did you honestly expect it to work BETTER than the secret service? Oh, son.
@Dave Alpert -- Can you now reveal the secret beta test that was available only RAC members?

Also, as for the weird predictions, it all depends on whether the radio is working or the operator logs onto it. Some radios have not been working which might contribute to the length prediction times.

Aren't those the exact problems that WMATA was supposed to have spent the last two years fixing? If this does not come out of the box with reliability well over 80%, what the hell was the point of keeping us in the cold (or heat) for the last two years?

Perhaps this is coming, but I would really like to be able to use my regular old cell phone to find out when a Red or Green line train will be there. I know I have had the ability to do this from a laptop for ages, and this is more important for buses (especially after all these years). But it is on the agenda to add MetroRail to the the NextBus system so I can get this info on the road with forking out a bunch of extra money to Verizon (or ATT or whoever?)

Of course, I'd feel a lot better about this if the Red Line wasn't such a mess.
