Bartholdi park is one of the great city parks right under the public's nose.Once the Eisenhower Memorial is opened, it might get more attention.

Unfortunately, people will probably be so horrified by the sight of the Ike Memorial that they'll have their eyes closed tight as they pass Bartholdi Park.

The photo caption of that OccupyDC photo is wrong. There is no grass on Freedom Plaza (at least not the vast majority of it). That is a photo of McPherson Square, where OccupyDC is (Freedom Plaza is occupied by a different group).

No, that's a pic from Freedom Plaza. I guess it's not the 'plaza' part of Freedom Plaza, but it's definitely a picture at the far Eastern edge of Freedom Plaza, near 13th Street. You're right that there isn't much grass there, but you can see the buildings in the background:
