Thank God their considering changing this dreadful bridge. Now maybe in a decade or so, we'll finally get something better.

In the District of Columbia, WMATA and DDOT will hold two public meetings on Wednesday, November 14 and Thursday, November 15 as part of the Metrobus Route 80 North Capitol Street Line Study.

The meetings will take place on November 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Providence Hospital, 1150 Varnum Street, NE, Washington, DC in the Ross Auditorium and on November 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Phoenix Park Hotel, 520 North Capitol Street, NW, Washington, DC.

The purpose is to hear directly from riders of the Route 80 about issues with the service and potential improvements that would address them. The meetings are open to all, and no registration is required.

Isn't the Long Bridge a privately owned railroad bridge? Can DC actually implement any of the findings it uncovers? Also, given that the 14th street bridge already has a bike/pedestrian pathway, I would focus on widening the bridge pathway and re-engineering the approaches on either end before considering an addition bike/ped river crossing.
