The Washington, DC region is great >> and it can be greater.

Join us for happy hour next Wednesday in downtown DC

After a brief hiatus, Greater Greater Washington's happy hour series has returned! Join us next Wednesday, June 5 from 6-8pm at the Laughing Man Tavern in downtown DC.

We look forward to getting contributors, editors and readers together for some drinks and lively conversation. The Laughing Man is at 1306 G Street NW, just a few steps from the Metro Center station (Red, Orange and Blue lines) and 4 blocks from Gallery Place-Chinatown (Green and Yellow).

It's also close to several major Metrobus routes, including the 32/36, 42/43, 52/54, 63/64, 70/79, 80, S2/S4 and X2. There are also Capital Bikeshare stations nearby at 12th & G and 14th & G.

We hope to make these happy hours a regular occurrence again. If you'd like to have one in your neck of the woods, let us know in the comments and we'll consider hosting an event there. Hope to see you Wednesday night!

Very cool. I will likely attend.

As for other locations, I would say H St NE, of course. Would be fun to have one in NOVA and one in MD as well, many options in both those sub regions.

I would have preferred a nice suburban location with ample parking along a good through-road like route 50 without any pesky pedestrian crossings. Perhaps a Moe's in Loudon or PG county?

NOOOO during a RAC meeting?!

I've thought about coming to one of these and pretending to be one of the more, uh, "adversarial" regular commenters. Alas, I doubt my ability to carry the gag for more than 10 minutes.

Loudoun's a bit far but I could swing Reston.

@Chris S.

We try to stick to Metro-accessible locations for our happy hours - so if you know of a place in Reston near Wiehle Avenue, we can go there next year when the Silver Line opens!

@dan reed!: I don't think there's much of anything very close to the Wiehle Ave. station, but there will be some decent HH places near at least two of the Tysons locations. It would be great to have one there when the Silver Line opens! (though isn't that this year??)

I would also love to see one in SS. Scion just opened a location right by the metro, and Pete's Apizza will be opening on the other side of the metro soon and they seem to have a pretty good HH.

Looking forward to dropping by.

GGW should also consider having a cookout at the Silver Spring Transportation Center. Then, at least, it would be used.

No cookout in the SSTC, the concrete hasnt had proper fire treatment so it might burn the place down.
