Support us and you might get a Metro map hat

Have you become a Greater Greater Washington supporter yet to help us afford our new Associate Editor? Michael Perkins has offered to make a Metro map hat for the first person to give $250 or more.

Can you become a "Greatest supporter" by contributing $250 for a year or $25 a month? If you're the first one to do that after this post goes up, Michael will make you a hat to keep your head nice and warm! If you're not the first, or if you can only afford to give us a smaller amount, you still will get the very warm feeling of supporting a website that provides you with a lot of thoughtful content and an engaged community to discuss it every day. Thank you for your support!

I have the yarn and the needles.

Just to clarify, the design will not include the new silver line. Sorry to disappoint, but I don't have any idea how to wedge it in the design. The center is already so dense.

I want to give. But this would be easier if one didn't have to open a Paypal account. Paypal is an awful company.

That hat should be given to anyone who gives at a certain level. And/or offered for sale on GGW. How about some GGW t-shirts, coffee mugs and such?

@DaveG --

The hat is a labor of love by Michael, who creates them by hand. It's super-awesome of him to offer one here, but I don't think we can ask him to mass-produce them. (If he did, I would have one already.)

Thanks again, Michael, for being awesome!

I agree with DaveG. You guys might consider merch as a way to raise money!

by recyclist on Feb 7, 2014 10:58 am • linkreport

Yes, of course you'd have to contract out any mass manufacture of GGW merchandise...hopefully to an American company!!

How about shot glasses for use during the next round of zoning debate, WMATA public hearings, and elections?

by BTA on Feb 7, 2014 11:23 am • linkreport

If you've already donated and want to give the rest now that you know there's a metro hat on the line, that counts too.

My hands would go all carpal tunnel if I had to make dozens of hats.

@Chris Hamilton: Maybe email David separately and you can mail him a check?

It appears the fundraising isn't going very well.

What about opening a shop on CafePress.com? I think they handle all of the manufacturing and logistics. You provide the logos and designs.

I don't know if all of the products are made in the U.S. Probably not. But I still think it would be a good idea.

Is GGW a 501c3?

by Urbanette on Feb 7, 2014 4:16 pm • linkreport

Urbanette: No. See this post for more on why.
