Maybe no tax cuts?
The tax cuts (from the bill that scaled back DC’s streetcar) will now only be triggered if revenue rises above projections. The change came after the DC CFO warned the cuts could endanger future budgets. (Post)
Eventual traffic calming
DDOT proposes several traffic calming measures for Arkansas Avenue NW, where residents have been clamoring for better safety. But DDOT doesn’t want to take out a rush hour lane, as residents are asking, because they say it could trigger a lengthy environmental review.
No streetcar referendum
A majority of the Arlington County Board opposes a referendum on the streetcar, saying the county lacks the legal authority to do hold a nonbinding, advisory referendum. (Post)
Alexandria stems flooding
Alexandria officials want to build a 6-foot floodwall to stop flooding in Old Town during major storms. Some residents are skeptical, with one saying that the wall doesn’t need to be that high. (WAMU)

A Maryland business supplies hens and coops that people can rent. Customers can choose from egg-laying hens or a chick-hatching program. Many customers end up buying the hens and coops. (Post)
#1 for walking
The DC area is the most walkable place in the country, according to a new report. It has the most office and retail space in Walkable Urban Places, and is ranked second in terms of potential for new walkable development. (DCist)
Women attacked on Met Branch
Two women were assaulted while walking on the Metropolitan Branch Trail. People who use the trail say it’s too secluded and the police should step up patrols. (WTOP)
See the Blue Line
Metro modified the digital signs in stations so that even if there are 3 Yellow Line trains before the next Blue Line train, the next Blue will always appear as one of the three lines of the sign. (PlanItMetro)
