Don’t miss the inaugural StreetCamp, where you’ll learn advocacy and technical skills! Make your voice heard at public meetings that cover Prince George’s County trails, Georgia Avenue bus lanes, cleaner rivers, and HOT lanes.

StreetsCamp: Don’t forget to register for the inaugural StreetsCamp! Learn (or brush up on) all of the advocacy skills and technical know-how you need to make positive change in your community at the day-long summit on Saturday, June 20. GGW will be there to talk blogging, as will a number of other groups like the Coalition for Smarter Growth, the Congress for the New Urbanism, Mobility Lab, and Safe Routes to School National Partnership. See you there!

After the jump: Prince George’s County trails, Georgia Avenue streetscape, cleaner rivers, HOT lanes, and corporate relocation.

Prince George’s County trails: Prince George’s County wants to improve their trail system. A new trails master plan will help reach that goal. Learn about the plan and give your input on trail location and design at several open houses. The final meeting, which will focus on the central part of the county, is on Tuesday, June 16, from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at 10100 Lake Arbor Way in Mitchellville, MD.

Also on Tuesday, Prince George’s County will host a community meeting about the Central Avenue Connector Trail, which will provide better bike and pedestrian connectivity along the Blue and Orange lines. The meeting is at St. Margaret’s Church (410 Addison Road South, Capitol Heights, MD) at 6:30 pm.

Remodel of Georgia Ave: Dedicated bus lanes and bike lanes could come to Georgia Avenue NW. Head over to a public meeting to discuss the proposed streetscape project this Wednesday, June 17, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at 815 Florida Avenue NW.

Reclaiming rivers: What if the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers were clean enough to swim in? The District Department of the Environment has several projects and program that work towards this goal. Learn about how to get involved at a public meeting this Wednesday, June 17, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Mt. Pleasant Library at 3160 16th Street NW.

HOT lanes: Changes are coming to I-66 inside the Beltway that are intended to improve connectivity and reduce traffic. Learn about and share your opinion on the proposed High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes at a public meeting on Wednesday, June 17, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at 1015 at North Quincy Street in Arlington, VA.

Corporate relocation: Hundreds of companies across the US are moving to downtowns. Head over to the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) at 9 am on Thursday, June 18, for the release of a report by Smart Growth America highlighting why companies are making the change.
