Accessibility thwarted
The DC Taxicab Commission is threatening to revoke licenses for companies who failed to meet the deadline to convert 6% of their fleet to wheelchair-accessible vehicles. But the Commission didn’t spend any of the funds meant to help companies purchase the vehicles and train employees. (WAMU)
Aging in America
The U.S. population is aging but our housing stock can’t keep up with older Americans’ needs. Most seniors live in car dependent areas and in homes that are not designed for people as they age. (Post)
Reliability matters
As Metro mulls reducing train frequency to improve reliability, many question what reliability means. Metro uses on-time performance to measure reliability, but riders likely care more about predictability in the time between trains. (Post)
Make way
Capital Bikeshare’s operations facility is in the footprint for the planned DC United stadium site and will likely need to move. Bikeshare has a lease until 2017 but DC plans to acquire all property for the stadium by the end of 2015. (TheWashCycle)

The demolition of a vacant car dealership to make way for a new mixed-use retail and hotel development on Route 1 in College Park is just one of several projects in the vision to transform Route 1 into a walkable destination. (Post)
Don’t park here
