Big changes could come to one of DC’s most used bus routes. This week, learn about and help support this major improvement to public transit, or learn about the newest tech advances in biking and walking.

16th St BRT: More people ride buses up and down 16th Street NW than almost anywhere else in the region. But the buses are plagued with overcrowding, inconsistent arrival times, and slow speeds. DDOT is conducting a study of the corridor to consider different ways to use the corridor, like bus rapid transit. Learn more about the study and how to get involved at the second Citizens Advisory Group meeting this Tuesday, August 18, at 6:30 pm at Foundry United Methodist Church (1500 16th Street, NW).

After the jump: technology for biking and walking, and WABA monthly meetings

Tech savvy: Apps and data can change and often improve our biking and walking experience. Head over to Mobility Lab (1501 Wilson Blvd, Suite 1100 in Arlington) on Thursday, August 20, at 6 pm for Walk Hack Night, a show and tell of tech projects for pedestrians and bikers.

WABA monthly meetings: Want to be a better bike advocate? The Washington Area Bike Association has monthly action committees in every part of the region.

Fairfax: Meetings are at 7 pm on the third Wednesday of every month at Patrick Henry Library (101 Maple Avenue East, Vienna). The next meeting is on Wednesday, August 17.

Arlington County: Meetings are at 7 pm on the third Monday of every month at the Clarendon Presbyterian Church (1305 N Jackson St, Arlington). The next meeting is on Monday, September 21.

Alexandria: Meetings are at 7 pm on the third Monday of every month at the Durant Center (1605 Cameron St, Alexandria). The next meeting is on Monday, September 21.

Montgomery County: Meetings are at 7 pm on the fourth Monday of every month at the BCC Regional Service Center (4805 Edgemoor Ln, Bethesda). The next meeting is on Monday, August 24.

Prince George’s County: Meetings are at 7:30 pm on the second Tuesday of every month at the Hyattsvile Town Hall (4310 Gallastin St, Hyattsville). The next meeting is on Tuesday, September 8.
