Events roundup: Bike lanes here, bike lanes there

Chime in on 6th Street bike lanes and a new bikeway in Silver Spring, hear Mayor Bowser speak on local issues at a town hall meeting, help Arlington shape its vision for parks, and discuss ways to make it easier to get from one side of DC to the other.

DC bike lanes: The 6th Street bike lane debate is back. On Saturday, February 6, you can learn about the updates on the project, discuss, and have a chance to share testimony from 12 pm to 4 pm at 421 P Street NW.

After the jump: a bikeway in Silver Spring, DC issues and travel, parks in Arlington, and I-66.

Silver Spring bike lanes: Silver Spring is in line for a new protected bikeway that will connect two trails that will come with Purple Line construction. Learn about the plan at a public meeting on Tuesday, February 2 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Silver Spring Civic Building (1 Veterans Place).

Bowser, Allen in town hall: Hear Mayor Bowser and DC Councilmember Charles Allen speak on affordable housing, crime prevention and enforcement, and homelessness at a town hall meeting on Wednesday, February 3. Hosted by Ward 6 Democrats, the meeting is from 6:30 pm to 9 pm at 1345 Potomac Avenue SE.

East-west travel in DC: Crosstown travel can be difficult in the District. A new study that’s kicking off soon could help identify ways to make it easier to travel the east-west corridor between Wards 1 and 5. Share your opinions on the project on Tuesday, February 2, from 6 pm to 8 pm at 125 Michigan Avenue NE.

New parks in Arlington: Arlington wants to create a new plan for its parks and recreation spaces. Join one of several events this week to share you input. On Thursday, February 4, there is a public meeting at 7 pm at 2121 N Culpeper Street, and on Friday, February 5, there is an open house and chat with the Parks Director at 10am at 2100 Clarendon Boulevard, and a happy hour at 5 pm at 2854 Wilson Boulevard. The final public meeting begins at 9:30 am on Saturday at 909 S Dinwiddie Street.

I-66 inside the beltway: A plan for I-66 inside the beltway will include toll lanes and better transit options. Head to the last design public hearing for the project this week on Friday, February 5, at 6 pm at 43100 Hay Road in Ashburn to learn about how the toll lanes and how they will function.
