There was a lot going on this week, so I tried an experiment of having more posts, sometimes shorter but sometimes not. Instead of 4-5 posts a day, we had 6-7. I also shortened the sections that appear on the home page before the “Read more…” to fit more on the page.

What do you think? Better, worse or don’t care?

I also tweaked the font CSS slightly. At some point, the text started appearing smaller on IE6 than it had originally. Most of you shouldn’t notice any change.

I’ve also started phasing out the odd.greatergreaterwashington.org site which showed the pre-redesign format. Most pages including the home page will now redirect to the regular, new page.

Some people have suggested building a mobile version of the site. Do you read GGW using a mobile device? Does it look just fine, or would you prefer something simpler, like DCist’s? What device(s) do you use? Is it important for the site to autodetect browsers and everything, or is it enough just to have another version at http://mobile.greatergreaterwashington.org/?

If you’d be interested in helping beta test a mobile site, say so in the comments and include the type of device you use as well as any thoughts on the above questions. Make sure to use your real email address in the email field on the comment form, which nobody will see except for me, so I can email you later on about testing.

I can’t make any promises about the timeframe, as it’ll take a fair amount of work, but your comments will help influence whether I try to start putting in the time.
