Limited Metrobus and Circulator service resume
WMATA has restored service on 47 Metrobus routes:
- In DC: the 32, 42, 60/64, 82, 96, A2/4/6/8, B2, E4, G8, H4, H6, P6, M6, S4, U2, U8, and X2;
- In Maryland: the 83, A12, C8, P12, Q2/4, T2, T18, and Y8;
- In Virginia: the 1B, 1C, 2C, 3A, 4A, 9A, 9S, 10B, 16A/B/D/E/J, 23A, 28A, 28T, and 38B.
Many of those lines are running modified routes along snow emergency routes and/or cutting routes short, so check the list and any updates on the news page before riding.
Limited Circulator service also resumed on the Union Station-Georgetown and Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square routes around 10 am today.
Has bus service on other systems elsewhere in the region begun to resume?
DDOT has also said that the Circulator may stop running this evening if the roads freeze up again. WMATA has not said anything similar yet, but that doesn't mean they won't take the same action.

That will be the deciding factor in the Feds working or not

A 10A came along, and I jumped on it. According to the WMATA website, it wasn't in service.
According to WMATA website, 10A isn't in service today either, although times show up on NextBus.
Furthermore, today WMATA says 10B is running but will "bypass Fairlington". 10B doesn't go to Fairlington.
I'm pretty flexible and understand it's been a rough week, but having timely and correct information is all the more important. It's little things like this that trouble me most- getting basic facts right.

Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. The main streets are perfectly clean and dry at the moment.

While common sense likely made it obvious for riders during some or much of the time that WMATA's NextBus information was invalid, we should not have to be making any interpretative guesses. Some of the time, the weather has been iffy, and we simply could not know -- without consistent, definitive information from Metro -- whether or not Metrobus is running.
In fact, right now, Metro's NextBus is providing predictive information on some routes that their news release says are not running. So, I go by the release. Whether it's Metro or NextBus' responsibility to fix this, I don't know. But it's misleading the public.
Further, this message runs atop the trip planner results page:
"Due to extreme weather conditions, above ground stations have been closed and bus service has been suspended. Please be advised that trip planner itineraries do not reflect this change in service. Please see the homepage news for updates on service."
Ok, now I know conditions and status are changing frequently. But it's easy to change the top message on the trip planner results page. The "updated" message should not be inconsistent with their news release.
Limited bus service *is in operation. And a 4:41pm news release indicated that some above ground rail service has resumed -- starting with the Red Line. I'd be more forgiving because of the short amount of time since the release was sent out, but this just gets added to a list of inconsistencies.
The other day, a reader pointed out the confusion caused by the Blue Line heading to Balston, which the Blue Line does not serve.
Well, "Next train arrivals" information is alternately showing the destination for the Green Line (heading in the **direction of Branch Avenue) as being ... Branch Avenue ... and Anacostia. I wouldn't hazard a guess as to where that train is actually headed.
